Hair It Is Foundation began in June 2022, born from a deeply personal revelation for its founder: that their own life journey started in a hair salon. After a successful career as a hairstylist, the founder felt a growing desire to pivot, seeking a new purpose. It was the discovery that their mother’s water broke at a hair salon while pregnant with her reignited their passion, transforming it from a job into a calling. This powerful connection helped bridge a love for making people feel good both inside and out with a desire to help others. The foundation was established to channel this renewed purpose, combining a skilled talent for hair with a passion for serving the community.
Mission
At Hair It Is Foundation, our mission is to empower school-age kids from low-income families who lack proper hair care, through free hair services. We believe that by providing haircuts, hairstyles and braids, we can boost their self-esteem, foster a sense of community, teach essential hygiene skills, stop hair bullies, teach proper hair care by providing a school in the Salon and promote their overall personal growth.
